Before We Move You
thank-you for having Gordon’s Moving come to your home for an estimate on
your up-coming move.
Over the past eleven years I have moved many people and I understand for difficult
this transition may be.
During the estimate, a great deal of information will be given to you. I feel that it
is important that some of the information be written down so that you may use
it as reference material.
When the Movers Arrive
- It is important that all items that can be boxed up are boxed up and ready to go for the movers. Items that Gordon’s doesn’t move without being properly boxed are as follows:
- Pictures
- Marble
- Lamps and lamp shades
- Glass shelving from hutches
- All glass and mirrors that can be boxed up
- Slate
- All types of pottery
- Household plants
There are some exceptions i.e., Large mirrors from dressers and tall lamps. These
items can be wrapped up with moving quilts and securely loaded into the truck.
*If the driver moves any of the items mentioned in the above description he will be
severely reprimanded under the policy and procedures of Gordon’s Moving.
- The Maine Department of Transportation, also
known as D.O.T. randomly inspects commercial trucks seven days a week. The
regulations states that we are not licensed to transport the following:
- All types of gasses and propane (empty or full)
- All ammunition
- All flammable products
- You
will also be asked to sign a particleboard waiver sheet. Particleboard
pieces are extremely popular and are in many homes that we move. These
items are put together with glue and screws. The screws are used in
locking mechanism. These items do not travel well and are most likely to
come apart during the move, where a solid piece of wood will hold on its
own.
- In the moving business there is a gray area
involving packing I would like to make black and white. If a customer
packs their home, Gordons Moving is not responsible for damage due to
improper packing; however, there are exceptions to this rule. If it is
clear that the box has been damaged or dropped by Gordons Moving, we are
then fully responsible. Gordon’s employees and or the customer must make
the driver for Gordon’s aware of this before the end of the move.
- If you have given Gordon’s a list of contents to
be moved i.e., fax or online due to the fact that Gordon was not able to
meet with you, the movers will only
move the contents on your list. Please be specific! There are no
exceptions to this rule.
I would like to end this by thanking you again for your interest in Gordons
Moving and I hope that this may answer some of your questions you may have had. If you have any further questions about moving that are not covered within these guidelines please feel free to call us.
Thank
You,
Gordon Beckwith
